Corporate Social Responsibility - CSR policy
By drawing up and communicating internally a Corporate Social Responsibility policy, we try to contribute to economic, social and ecological progress in order to promote sustainable development; to respect the human rights of those affected by our activities; promote local capacity building through close cooperation with the local community; to encourage business relations, including suppliers and subcontractors, where possible, to apply rules of conduct in their companies that are compatible with our strategy.
Environment
We take into account the needs of the environment, public health and safety. We provide our employees with adequate training on environmental, health and safety issues. We share the concern of our employees and the government about the development of the environment. Although our company is not prominent in terms of size and impact on the environment, a good environmental policy depends on broad support. Not only the government, but also all companies from large to small, not to mention the citizens, together determine whether environmental ambitions are feasible. We have integrated this facet into our ISO manual. The quality of Jos ten Berg BV is guaranteed on all fronts through the designation 'High Supplier' and 'ISO standard: 9001'. Environmentally conscious construction was of paramount importance when constructing our new business premises.
As a trading company, Jos ten Berg BV only has storage space where no production takes place. We purchase approximately 80% of the items offered directly from the manufacturers without the intervention of third parties. These manufacturers are mainly located within EU countries. Apart from the fact that manufacturers from EU countries must meet stricter and strict environmental requirements and the supervision of this is well structured, these manufacturers are serious and continuity-oriented organizations with good morals. For our company, these topics are, last but not least, conditions for entering into a business relationship.
As a result of this continuity and solidity, our manufacturers are able to make the necessary investments. In this context, it is important to mention that our porcelain manufacturer switched the fuel of the kilns to environmentally friendly natural gas at our request in 2000.
Working Conditions
Jos ten Berg BV respects the right of employees to be represented, and there is no discrimination between employees. In addition, it tries to contribute to the effective abolition of child labor and any form of forced or forced labor by selecting and controlling its international suppliers in such a way that this cannot occur. The management visits the suppliers at least once a year, announced or unannounced, to check whether they still meet our Corporate Social Responsibility requirements.
