Family business - Since 1836
|
Since 1816 The history of family business Jos ten Berg BV begins in 1836. In 1836, Mr Huinck settled as a cutlery in Utrecht and became the founder of the company that later became known as 'Jos ten Berg'. In the early years, the company consisted of trading in knives, gallantries, stalls and toys. It was at the beginning of the 20th century, under the leadership of Jos ten Berg, that the company took off. Jos ten Berg supplemented the collection with hotel porcelain, earthenware and glass. The aim was to select goods that excelled through excellent quality. He thus laid the foundation for the further growth and prosperity of the company.
Jos ten Berg was the visionary with ideas. The retail company soon became too small for the enterprising Mr Ten Berg. He focused on deliveries to major users such as hospitals, sanatoriums and boarding schools. The products for these (care) institutions had a completely different character, which required a switch to serve this market.

In the early 1980s, the introduction of our own products significantly shortened the path between manufacturer and customers, resulting in highly competitive products, in terms of price and quality, that even better matched market demand. Delivery times also became considerably shorter because the stock position increased sharply. By listening carefully to the customer, Mathieu ten Berg and Paul Beek were able to develop new products that matched customer demand well. |
